Sleepyhead is New Zealand’s most trusted mattress maker and have been designing and manufacturing in New Zealand for over 85 years.

As the only mattress manufacturer in New Zealand to make our own foam, we began manufacturing underlay as a sustainable way of using foam left over from our mattress manufacturing. Today, Sleepyhead Flooring sustainably sources foam from our manufacturing facilities across Australasia as well from selected partners in Asia and America.

Sensitive Choice® is the National Asthma Council of Australia’s programme to educate about the importance of asthma and allergy management.

With millions of Australians and New Zealanders suffering from asthma, and one in three of us suffering from allergies, it’s important to find ways to reduce triggers that can impact our daily lives. To make life a little easier, the Sensitive Choice butterfly was developed to help identify products and services that could be better choices for people with asthma and allergies.

Sensitive Choice works with a wide range of products across New Zealand and Australia and we’re proud to have their approval for our Refresh and Memory underlays. Our approved underlays have been tested and verified by a panel of prominent medical experts, so you can feel confident when purchasing our products.

  Fresh Protect

Fresh Protect is a green technology antimicrobial that is very environmentally friendly. It is derived from lauric acid in coconuts and is a natural and highly effective anti bacterial, anti fungal, and anti viral protection. Fresh Protect therefore is non-toxic, unlike other antimicrobials, and is safe for use around people and animals. This is now standard across our whole range of underlays, residential and commercial.

Sleepyhead Flooring underlay products have been tested and certified to comply with the New Zealand standard for soft underlays  (AS 4288:2003). All testing is conducted independently by the New Zealand Wool Testing Authority to ensure a consistent level of quality for New Zealand consumers.

When comparing underlay products, be sure to check that they meet industry standard (AS 4288:2003). These require minimum performance requirements for soft underlays and test their suitability for use in various installations, so you can be sure you’re getting the quality product you deserve.
